Granite Recylers Austin

714-G Shelby Lane

Every year, around 30 million pounds of granite and marble waste are sent to Austin landfills from local fabricators.  Granite Recyclers Austin is the first company in Austin to reclaim this waste into usable products, including split faced tiles, whiskey stones, and rock dust for gardening purposes.  Nolan Kilby, the founder of this young company, started out in the shop of a local fabricator but was inspired to find another use for what he regards as a resource, rather than waste.  Granite Recyclers Austin was established in the summer of 2014 and currently has the capacity to process 4 - 5 tons / week, though they are looking for larger shop space.

This field trip is a coordinated effort with Interior Design Construction 2, taught by Tamie Glass.
