Lise Anne Couture is a principal of Asymptote Architecture, the highly acclaimed New York-based practice that she co-founded with Hani Rashid in 1989. Through its award winning design projects and buildings, Asymptote has gained an international reputation for being at the forefront of design and technological innovation.  

 

Lise Anne Couture has held several prestigious academic positions including visiting professorships at Yale, Harvard, Princeton, MIT, Cornell, and SCI-Arc. She is currently Professor in Practice at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation.

 

Lise Anne Couture and her partner Hani Rashid have been awarded the prestigious Frederick Kiesler Prize for Architecture and the Arts in recognition of exceptional contributions to the progress and merging of art and architecture. They were named by TIME magazine as Leaders in Innovation for the 21st Century. Lise Anne Couture has been a New York Foundation of the Arts Fellow, and is a New York State Registered Architect and a member of the AIA.
