Lecture: Sara Caples and Everardo Jefferson

Wednesday Oct. 29, 2014 , 5 to 6 p.m.

When Everardo and Sara founded the firm in 1987, we made three commitments that have remained core values:

  • Perform at least 50% of our work for the community, for a broader public, especially in poorer neighborhoods underserved by designers.
  • Base each project on intensive research to uncover deepened layers particular to each individual place. This can encompass issues ranging from space and needs analysis to site history and physical characteristics to the philosophies underlying our clients' endeavors.
  • The mission is to look into these multiple layers for fulfilling connections between the conceptual and the physical that zero in on the unique potential of that place. We have had the great fortune to grow into a staff of collaborative designers. Because we are committed to working holistically, each architect is capable of working on all aspects of the project, from conceptual design to its detailed development and exacting construction. Our projects cover a wide range: preschools for medically fragile children, community centers, civic theaters, museums, places to work, to live, to participate in a world of broadened possibilities.
